Kenya’s mobile money agents fell to 563,605 agents in Aug 2026.

Higher is better. More active agents put a place to deposit or withdraw cash within easier reach of more people, which is why a higher count is better. The latest figure, for Aug 2026, is 563,605 agents, against 451,157 agents a year earlier, a rise of 24.9%. Since Sep 2024 the series has ranged from a low of 358,621 agents in Oct 2024 to a high of 621,389 agents in Mar 2026. The latest figure sits well above that low and below the March 2026 high.

Why it matters. For Kenyan households, a larger agent network means shorter trips to turn mobile balances into cash and to send or receive money, including in places without bank branches. For small businesses that run agent outlets, each additional agent shares the same pool of customers, so the count matters for their commission income. The March 2026 high of 621,389 agents is the level to compare with the coming months.
