In plain words
$1,022
What it is. GDP per capita takes the value of all goods and services produced in Chad in a year, converted to current US dollars, and divides it by the population. The result is an average for every resident. It leaves out how income is shared between households, and because it uses current dollars, exchange rate movements and price changes feed straight into the figure.
Higher is better. More output per person gives households more to spend and gives the state a larger base to tax, so a higher figure is better. The latest figure is $1,022 for 2025, up from $980.7 a year earlier, a rise of 4.2%. Since 2016 the lowest level was $854.5 in 2017. The 2025 figure is the highest in that span.
Why it matters. An average of $1,022 per person for a whole year leaves little room for household saving or spending beyond basic needs. The state has a narrow income base from which to fund schools and clinics. The rise over the last year adds to that base, and the 2025 level is the one to check against the next annual figure.
