In plain words
$1,877
What it is. GDP per capita divides the value of everything a country produces in a year by its population, here in current US dollars. Because it is an average, it says nothing about how income is shared between a miner, a farmer and a civil servant. Current prices mean the figure moves with exchange rates and inflation as well as with real output, and it leaves out unpaid household work and much informal activity.
Higher is better. A higher figure means more output for each person to earn, spend and be taxed on, so a rise is good for this measure. The latest figure for 2025 is $1,877, up from $1,695 a year earlier, a rise of 10.8%. That is the highest level since 2016, when the figure stood at its lowest in the window at $712. Guinea therefore sits at the top of its own range for the period.
Why it matters. At $1,877 a head, average output in Guinea remains modest, and the gain of $182 over a year does not reach every household equally. Income growth of this size gives the state a larger base for tax revenue and gives firms a somewhat bigger domestic market. Households feel it only where wages and farm or trading incomes rise alongside the average, which is the item to check in local price and wage data.
