In plain words
91.7% of population
What it is. Electricity access is the share of a country's people who live in a household with an electricity connection. It is usually estimated from household surveys and censuses, then modelled for the years in between, so the yearly figures are best read as a trend. A household counts as connected whether the power is reliable or not, so the figure says nothing about outages, voltage or cost.
Higher is better. A higher share means more people can use lights, refrigeration, phone charging and powered equipment, so a rising figure is good. Comoros stood at 91.7% of population in 2024, up from 89.8% of population a year earlier, a gain of 1.9 percentage points. The 2024 figure is also the highest since 2015, when access was 74.1% of population. Access has therefore climbed steadily across the whole span, and the latest reading is the top of its own range.
Why it matters. At 91.7% of population, most Comorian households can in principle use electric light, run a fridge and charge phones at home. The remaining households still depend on lamps, fuel or charging elsewhere, which costs money and limits evening work and study. For firms and the state, the task is now to reach the last few households and to keep the supply dependable for those already connected.
