In plain words
91.2% of population
What it is. This measure counts the share of everyone living in Morocco who uses the internet, children and older people included. Because the denominator is the whole population, the figure depends on both the estimate of users and the population estimate. Speed, cost, quality of connection and how often people go online sit outside the measure.
Higher is better. A higher share is better because more people can reach online public services, banking, learning and jobs. The latest figure is 91.2% of population in 2024, up from 91% of population a year earlier, a gain of 0.2 percentage points. Since 2015 the lowest level was 57.1% of population in 2015, and the 2024 figure is the highest in that span. The yearly gain is now small, which is what a measure approaching its ceiling looks like.
Why it matters. With 91.2% of population online, most Moroccan households can use digital banking, government portals and online shopping. Firms can reach nearly the whole market through the internet, and the state can move more services online. Further progress in the headline share has little room left, so the next gains lie in connection quality and affordability.
