In plain words
64.9% of population
What it is. Internet users counts the share of everyone in Namibia, children and adults alike, who go online, whether on a phone, a computer or another device. The figure usually comes from household surveys and from operator and regulator data, so it follows people who actually use the internet rather than the number of subscriptions or connections. It does not show how fast the connection is, how often people go online or what they do there.
Higher is better. A higher share is better because it means more people can reach online services, information, jobs and public services. The latest figure is 64.9% of population for 2024, up 1.2 percentage points from 63.7% of population a year earlier. Since 2015 the share has climbed from a low of 25.7% of population, and 2024 is the highest point in that span.
Why it matters. At 64.9% of population, roughly two in three Namibians are online, so most households can use mobile banking, job searches, online learning and government services. Firms can sell to and communicate with a large share of customers over the internet. The remaining third is still outside these services, which matters for rural communities and for any government service that moves online.
