In plain words
76.5% of population
What it is. This measure counts individuals who use the internet as a share of everyone living in the country, so children and older people are in the denominator along with working-age adults. It records whether people go online, which makes it a measure of reach. It leaves out connection speed, price and quality, so two countries with the same share can offer very different experiences.
Higher is better. A higher share is better because more people can reach information, public services, jobs and customers online. Tunisia's latest figure is 76.5% of population for 2024. That is the highest point in its range since 2013, when the figure was 43.8% of population. Over that span the share has risen steadily towards its current peak.
Why it matters. With 76.5% of population online, most Tunisian households can use banking, administrative and education services on the internet, and firms can sell to a wide domestic audience. People outside that share depend on offices, branches and in-person channels. Public bodies that move services online therefore still need to keep those channels open.
