In plain words
41.6% of population
What it is. Internet users counts the people in Zimbabwe who use the internet, expressed as a share of the whole population. Because the denominator is everyone, children and older people sit in the base alongside working-age adults. The measure records whether someone goes online and says nothing about how often, how fast or at what cost.
Higher is better. A higher share is better because each additional user can reach information, mobile and online payments, education and job listings. The latest figure, for 2024, is 41.6% of population, up from 38.7% a year earlier, a gain of 3 percentage points. That is the highest level since 2015, when the share was 22.7% of population. Use has climbed from that starting point to a new peak in the latest year.
Why it matters. At 41.6% of population, a minority of Zimbabweans are online, so most households can reach digital banking, school material and public information only through those who are. Firms selling or advertising online address a customer base smaller than the population as a whole. The state can expect online services to reach a growing but still limited share of citizens.
