In plain words

31 companies

What it is. This measure counts domestic companies listed on Ghana's stock exchanges at year end. It is a simple headcount, so a small lender and a large miner each count as one. It leaves out market value, share prices and trading volumes, and foreign companies are excluded by definition.

Higher is better. More listed companies give investors a wider choice of shares and give firms more ways to raise money by selling equity, so a higher count is better. The latest figure is 31 companies in 2025, up from 30 a year earlier, a rise of 3.3%. Since 2011 the count has ranged from a low of 29 companies in 2011 to a high of 33 companies in 2019. The current level sits in the upper part of that range and below the 2019 peak.

Why it matters. With 31 listed companies, Ghanaian savers and pension funds that want local shares choose from a short list. A firm considering a listing has only a few listed peers to compare itself with, and a handful of new listings or delistings changes the count noticeably. The 2019 peak of 33 companies is the figure to watch for a return to a broader market.
