In plain words
19.3% of GDP
What it is. This measure takes the value of goods and services sold to buyers abroad and divides it by the value of everything the economy produces. A higher share means more of the country's output is earned from foreign customers. Imports are left out, so the trade balance needs the import side too. The ratio also moves with GDP, so it can rise because exports grow or because the rest of the economy shrinks.
Higher is better. Export earnings bring in foreign currency that pays for imports and supports incomes tied to overseas sales, which is why a larger share counts in a country's favour. The latest figure is 19.3% of GDP for 2025, up from 15% of GDP in 2024, a gain of 4.3 percentage points in a year. That is the highest point in the range since 2016. It sits well above the low of 12.3% of GDP reached in 2022.
Why it matters. A bigger export share gives the Central African Republic more foreign currency to buy imported goods such as fuel and food. Producers who sell abroad find more demand for their output, and the state gains a wider base for trade-related revenue. The next annual reading will show whether the level of 19.3% of GDP holds.
