In plain words
22.3% of GDP
What it is. Manufacturing value added is the value factories and processing plants create, after subtracting the materials and services they buy in, expressed as a share of GDP. It is calculated within the national accounts. It leaves out output from other sectors and gives no count of factory jobs. Because it is a share, it also moves when the rest of the economy grows or shrinks, even if factory output stays level.
Higher is better. A higher share means more of the country's output comes from making and processing goods, which tends to bring steadier jobs and a more varied economy. The latest figure is 22.3% of GDP for 2025, down from 25.8% a year earlier, a fall of 3.5 percentage points. Since 2016 the share has ranged from a low of 18.5% of GDP in 2016 to a high of 25.8% of GDP in 2024. The 2025 reading sits a little above the middle of that range, one year after the series reached its top.
Why it matters. At 22.3% of GDP, manufacturing still accounts for a sizeable slice of what Equatorial Guinea produces, which matters for the firms and workers tied to processing and production. The drop from the 2024 peak means those activities took a smaller share of national output in 2025. The next annual reading will show whether the share keeps falling towards its 2016 level or recovers.
