In plain words
14.9% of GDP
What it is. Manufacturing value added is the value of what factories produce minus the cost of the materials and services they buy in, so it shows what manufacturers themselves contribute to the economy. It is shown here as a share of GDP, which makes it a measure of how much of national output comes from making goods. Mining, energy and construction are counted in their own categories and sit outside it.
Higher is better. A higher share is better because it means more of the country's income comes from domestic production, which tends to bring steadier jobs and a broader export base. The latest figure is 14.9% of GDP for 2025, down from 15.3% of GDP in 2024, a fall of 0.33 percentage points. Since 2016 the share has ranged from 14.6% of GDP in 2017 to 16% of GDP in 2022. The 2025 reading therefore sits close to the bottom of that range and well below the 2022 peak.
Why it matters. A manufacturing share of 14.9% of GDP means factories supply a little less of Moroccan output than they did in 2022. For households, factory work is a main route to formal wage employment, so a slipping share can slow the growth of those jobs. For the state, a smaller industrial share leaves tax and export earnings more dependent on other sectors.
