In plain words
25.2% of GDP
What it is. Agriculture value added is the output of farming, forestry and fishing after deducting the cost of inputs used up in production, shown as a share of total GDP. The share rises when farm output grows faster than the rest of the economy, and also when other sectors shrink. Food processing, transport and trade beyond the farm gate are counted in other sectors, so they do not appear here.
Neither way is good in itself. A higher share can reflect a stronger farm sector or a weaker rest of the economy, and a lower share can reflect diversification or a struggling farm sector. The direction alone therefore settles little. The latest figure, for 2025, is 25.2% of GDP, up from 21.6% of GDP a year earlier, a rise of 3.7 percentage points. Since 2016 the lowest reading was 12.3% of GDP in 2019, and the 2025 figure is the highest in that span.
Why it matters. At 25.2% of GDP, harvests, rainfall and rural prices carry a large weight in Angola's national income. The share was 12.3% of GDP in 2019, so the economy now depends far more on farm output than it did then. Households that earn from the land and fishing, and a state that relies on rural output for food supply, feel a poor season more sharply at this level.
