In plain words
$182.4bn
What it is. Nominal GDP adds up the value of everything an economy produces in a year, priced at current market prices and converted into US dollars. Because it is converted at prevailing exchange rates, the figure moves with the dirham against the dollar as well as with real output and inflation. It says nothing about how income is shared, about unpaid work, or about living costs, so it measures the size of the economy and not the wealth of the average person.
Higher is better. A larger nominal GDP means a bigger pool of production and income to spend, save and tax, which is why higher is the better direction for this measure. Morocco's latest figure is $182.4bn for 2025, up from $160.6bn a year earlier, a rise of 13.6%. That is the highest reading since 2016, when the series stood at its low of $111.6bn. The economy is therefore about $21.8bn larger than a year before and sits at the top of its range over the whole period.
Why it matters. A bigger economy gives the state more income to tax and more room to fund public services and borrowing, and it gives firms a larger domestic market. Households benefit only if the growth reaches wages and jobs, and a dollar-based figure can also rise when the dirham strengthens, which does not change what a dirham buys in Moroccan shops. At $182.4bn, Morocco's output is well above its 2016 level in dollar terms.
