In plain words

$15.1bn

What it is. Nominal GDP adds up the market value of everything produced in Namibia in a year and converts it into US dollars at prevailing prices and exchange rates. Because it is not adjusted for inflation, it moves with the Namibian dollar's value against the US dollar as well as with real output. It leaves out unpaid household work and informal activity that never reaches official statistics, and it says nothing on how income is shared.

Higher is better. A larger figure means a bigger economy in dollar terms, which gives the country more capacity to pay for imports, service foreign debt and raise tax revenue. Namibia's nominal GDP stood at $15.1bn in 2025, up from $13.6bn a year earlier, a rise of $1.4bn or 10.6%. That is the highest level since 2016, the start of the window. The low point in the same span was $10.6bn in 2020, so the economy is now well above its trough.

Why it matters. A larger dollar economy gives the state a wider base for tax revenue and makes foreign-currency debt easier to carry relative to output. For firms that import machinery, fuel or food, a stronger dollar value of output points to more purchasing power abroad. Households feel the gain only to the extent that growth reaches jobs and wages, which this measure does not show.
