In plain words

$11.9bn

What it is. Nominal GDP adds up the value of everything Togo produces in a year, priced at that year's prices and converted into US dollars. Because it uses current prices and dollar conversion, the figure moves with inflation and the exchange rate as well as with the volume of output. It counts only measured production and says nothing about how income is shared between households.

Higher is better. A higher figure is good because a larger economy gives households more income and gives the state more to tax and invest, although price and currency changes also feed into the dollar number. Togo's latest figure is $11.9bn for 2025, up from $10.6bn a year earlier, a rise of $1.2bn or 11.7%. Since 2016 the series has ranged from $6.1bn in 2016 to $11.9bn in 2025, so the latest reading is the highest in that span.

Why it matters. At $11.9bn, Togo's economy gives the state a larger base for tax revenue and for servicing any debt owed in dollars. Firms selling at home operate in a bigger market measured in dollars. How far households benefit depends on how the growth is shared across wages, farm incomes and small businesses.
