In plain words
$57.5bn
What it is. Nominal GDP adds up the market value of everything produced in Tunisia in a year and converts it to US dollars at prevailing exchange rates. Because it uses current prices and a dollar conversion, the figure moves with inflation and with the dinar's value against the dollar as well as with real output. It says nothing about how the income is shared or about unpaid and informal work that never reaches the accounts.
Higher is better. A larger economy gives a country more income to spend, save and tax, so a higher figure is better. Tunisia's latest figure, for 2025, is $57.5bn, up from $51.4bn a year earlier, a rise of 11.8%. That is the highest level since 2016, the start of the window. The low point was $41.9bn in 2019, so the economy measured in dollars is now well above its weakest reading in this span.
Why it matters. A bigger dollar economy makes foreign debt and imported fuel and wheat easier to carry relative to national income. It also gives the state a wider base for tax revenue. Households feel this only if the gain reflects real growth and not just price rises or a firmer dinar, so wages and inflation are the figures to check alongside it.
